SHPAC - Letter to Georgia House and Senate members
Dear Member of the Georgia Legislature:
If you think that the Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Speaker of the
House, the Atlanta Chamber of Commerce or the Legislative Black Caucus
care anything about your political career, please think again.
Several veteran legislators were involuntarily retired from public
service in 2002 due to their ill-advised decision to support the
changing of the 1956 Georgia Memorial Flag.
During this session, we have the chance to support the right of
Georgians to have a fair choice on the state flag.
The Mason Dixon poll (attached) shows that half of the people of
Georgia support the right to choose the Memorial Flag as our symbol.
This is a state-wide poll and was taken last month.
Insider Advantage touted a poll taken of Democrats likely to vote in
the Democratic presidential primary inside the city of Atlanta. Somehow
this poll has been bandied about as representative of Georgia opinion.
Don't be deceived as to what the real opinion of Georgians is. If you
are not sure, listen to your own district on this issue.
Georgia needs her veteran legislators to provide experience and
leadership.
Now you can support the right of the people to be heard on this
issue.
Vote to give the people of Georgia a fair choice, including the 1956
Memorial Flag.
It's the right thing to do and the only way to ensure that our flag
is representative of Georgia.
Sincerely
Martin K. O'Toole For further information on the Southern Heritage Political Action Committee, contact Spokesman William Lathem at: 404-518-1865 or spokesman@southernheritagepac.com
