Mission Statement
What is the Southern Heritage Political Action Committee (SHPAC)?
The SHPAC is a registered, grass roots, non-partisan Georgia-based Political Action Committee.
We have no political goals other than preserving Southern Heritage. Our organization has no paid staff – all of our work is done by volunteers.
What is the goal of SHPAC?
Our primary goal is to preserve and defend Southern Heritage, its Culture and Symbols through direct political action.
How does SHPAC plan to accomplish its primary goal?
A) We will continue to lobby the legislature for a fair vote on our State Flag; a vote which would include the 1956 Memorial State Flag as one of the choices.
B) We will work to expose and defeat sponsors and supporters of anti-Southern Heritage legislation like House Bill 899 that was introduced during the 2003 session.
C) We will alert the public to any anti-Southern Heritage legislation or attacks.
What is SHPAC’s position on the March 2 referendum?
SHPAC condemns the politically correct censorship of the 1956 Memorial State Flag by the 2003 Legislature. Since the 1956 state flag was not a choice in the referendum, we reject the two choices offered by the politicians. Polls continue to show that a majority of Georgians want the 1956 State Flag to be included as an option in any referendum.
In our opinion, no referendum on the State Flag will be acceptable unless the 1956 Memorial State Flag is included as one of the choices.
